Central Coast Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Planning Overview

The cities of Arroyo Grande, Atascadero, Grover Beach, Morro Bay, Pismo Beach, and Paso Robles, and the San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District (APCD) have initiated a collaborative planning effort to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions consistent with the goals of Assembly Bill 32 (AB 32).

The cities and the APCD, with the assistance of a team of consultants led by locally based Rincon Consultants, are working to prepare climate action plans to cost-effectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while maintaining or improving the quality of life for residents and reducing costs for individuals and businesses. The plans will be developed in a transparent manner with extensive public participation, as well as input from elected officials and stakeholders to ensure that each plan is crafted to meet the unique needs of each city.

GHG Measure Evaluation Toolbox!

Picture

Click here to download the Central Coast GHG Planning Measure Evaluation Toolbox version 2.0 (Note: transportation data for Grover Beach and Pismo Beach is currently being revised. A new version of the Toolbox will be posted as soon as the revised data is available). This Toolbox serves to assist each of the six cities with evaluating and selecting GHG emissions reduction measures for the Central Coast GHG Planning project by highlighting key information for each measure, such as GHG reduction potential, cost effectiveness and co-benefits. Once data regarding a set of user defined assumptions are entered (blue cells), the Toolbox automatically calculates the GHG emission reductions, and financial costs and savings expected from the measure. This Toolbox contains approximately thirty-five measures that can be quantified using current industry established methods. The selected GHG emissions reduction measures ultimately will be tailored specifically to each City and included in its Climate Action Plan. Have a question specifically about the Toolbox?
